I guess the logic behind this “Gaiden/New Game+” set up is “You don’t have to grind levels or social stats so you can hang out with people more.”

I mean, what with the first episode power display and the fact the opening implies his social stats are max it makes sense. It seems like a roundabout way to make what could probably work as a few OVAs into a full series, but it works.

I believe I have made a terrible assumption and I must rectify this immediately. Persona 4 The Golden The Animation’s not a New Game+.

It’s a Fandisc.

Ok, well it’s probably still a New Game+, given Yu’s SUPER AMAZING SHADOW KILLING SKILLS, but it’s not following the plot of Persona 4. It seems content in just doing it’s own thing. It’ll probably his “Changes between 4 and Golden” plot later, but not now.

Persona 4 The Golden The Animation The Episode 1

Like a lot of people, when it was announced that another Persona 4 anime was being made, this time to cover the enhanced PSVita port “Persona 4 The Golden,” with the “The” dropped for no reason with the English release, I was skeptical. I mean it’s been less than 3 years since the first anime and a LOT of other shows need remakes more than the first Persona 4 anime did.

The thing is, I’m not sure it IS a remake anymore after the first episode. I think it’s New Game+.
