Donjobo’s Thoughts: Funimation’s 2016 logo change
It’s been a week or two. Jimmy is still on his nightly New Year’s partying and Donjobo is trying to manage his life. At this point in time, Jimmy is sleeping on the floor wearing a lamp shade on his head while still in his cloths from three days ago. (Go to ‘___’ area for opinion. Also the story is a squeal to my 2016 New Year’s Resolution.)
‘cough-Cough,’ Jimmy gags as he pulls something out of his throat.
”A feather,” the questionnaire gasps and soon grunts.
“Hmm, am I at least wearing cloths,” Jimmy says to himself and shimmies a bit on the ground.
“Yep still got them on,” Jimmy snorts.
“You could get up with the rest of the world Jim,” Donjobo said while sitting at the dining room table with his laptop.
Jimmy sits up and takes the shade off, “So what’s for breakfast?”
“I guess at Waffle House. It’s 3:30 in the afternoon. Besides I don’t cook… yet. Why do you keep calling my house at 5 o’clock in the morning,” Donjobo conversed as he grew concerned over Jimmy’s party habits.
“Oh, yeah… I don’t live here. Mind if I freshen up,” the now sobered one asks after he makes himself something to drink.
“Sure, just vacuum from were you woke up from,” the author confirms as his fingers makes tip-tap noises on his computer.
The door soon shuts from the bathroom.
“How does one person get that much confetti and glitter on themselves,” Donjobo says to himself like some crazy person in a narrative.
30 minutes later…
“Hey Jim get over here,” Donjobo yells across the room.
Jim walks over with his glass, “Yeah-yeah. Hey can you take me back to my car later?”
“Only if you go home and change out of those clothes. Funimation just changed their logo,” the author points out to the questionnaire.
“… O-oh the ‘You should be watching’ guys who bring most of the anime line-up to Toonami,” Jimmy reminds himself out loud.
“Yes Jimmy that’s using your dip stick,” Donjobo grunts in annoyance.
“Anyway their changing up their streaming or revising it with a slight name change, FunimationNow. What gets me is the new logo,” Donjobo continues and slides the laptop to Jimmy’s view.
“It kind of reminds me of the Laughing Man logo from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex,” Jim states as he sets his empty glass down.
“Huh… I can sort a see what you’re talking about. My problem with it is the minimalistic style. I generally hate this style because it’s telling others that if you barley try its okay that’s the modern life style.
I see this minimalistic style as a much blander logo option than the previous one. When it’s printing it is less likely to smudge; however, I like the commercial with this logo being used in,” Donjobo says on his soap box.
“Well what were they before,” Jim asks as he sits down to slide the laptop back to the owner.
“The earlier one I can remember is some quick alteration of the Texan flag and children’s laughter after it shows.
The next one I can recall is the Texan flag design engulfing the words Funimation as a voice whispers the company’s name.
The one is the name Funimation with the letters drawn out the whisper is still there but latter they added that ‘You should be watching’ slogan which gets me to yell at the screen since I own most of their titles released on dvd.
I did like the previous incarnation because of the lucky cat surrounding,” Donjobo explains his answers.
“You know you can swap the cover so they won’t be lime green,” Jimmy points out as glances at Donjobo’s media library.
“I like the lime green color. Even though if you stack them through the prints the shades of green look like the same shades Lima beans would have. Hopefully with Funimation’s partnership with Universal Pictures should reduce the production errors people have had. Looks like Funi is partnering up with a division from Sony on this FunimationNow streaming service,” Donjobo explains while he is scratching his noggin.
“Wasn’t there another rename like Toko,” Jimmy asks.
“Oh that’s TOKU it’s a renaming of the Funimation Channel for cable/satellite television viewing. This came from Olympusat. I don’t know much of this company and yes TOKU is a word play of Tokusatsu. Tokusatsu is live action Japanses filming with special effects like with Ultraman or Zyuuranger,” Donjobo says as he dabbles on his lap top.
“Oh word play like your name Donjobo,” Jimmy points out.
“I created you and I can destroy you,” the author roars seriously.
“… ,”Jimmy pauses, “Bwahh-ha-ha,” and soon busts out laughing.
The author does much of the same.
5 minutes later of laughter…
“So, so, so… what’s going on with you,” Jimmy asks.
“I’ve been working on another New Anime Brew. A movie this time,” the author says as he recovers his breath and shuts down his computer.
“What about the job hunt,” Jimmy continues as this is an issue that was pointed out last time.
“The applications are all the same. I have it in a cut and paste form now. So it’s been long and boring online-wise. The state office and states man have been very helpful and the headhunters are in a cock fight with each other from the same agency,” Donjobo explains as he closes his laptop.
“Any interviews,” Jimmy continues.
“Ahh, a few have came up. Come on let’s get you to your car… after you vacuum,” Donjobo says as he stands up.
